Travelling With Cats or Dogs

🧳 What to Pack & How to Prep 🐾

Planning a getaway or a long weekend holiday break with your furry bestie? Whether you’re heading to the countryside, coast or just nipping away for the weekend, travelling with your cat or dog can be loads of fun – with a little prep and the right kit in your bag!

Here’s our go-to guide for stress-free spring adventures with your pup, dog, kitten or cat – plus all the stylish essentials you’ll want to pack from Pipkin and Bella, of course! 😉

🐶🐱 First Things First: Travel Prep Basics

Before you hit the road (or rails), make sure your pet is:

  • 🏷️ Microchipped (with correct contact details) and wearing a secure ID tag
  • 🐾 Wearing a comfy, well-fitted dog harness or cat harness
  • 🧘♀️ Used to the carrier or car – do a few trial runs if needed!

Top Tip: Pop in a comfort item from home – a favourite blanket or toy helps them feel safe and settled wherever they go.

🧳 The Ultimate Pet Travel Checklist

Here’s what to pack for a smooth trip:

Everyday Essentials:

  • Harness, lead & collar (we recommend packing your full set!)
  • ID tag with your mobile number
  • Poop bags & holder
  • Food, treats & travel bowls
  • Fresh water in a bottle or travel dispenser
  • Litter tray & litter (for cats/kittens)
  • Bed, blanket or crate
  • Favourite toy or chew

For Stylish Adventures:

Calming Comforts:

  • A calming spray or plug-in (especially for cats & kittens)
  • Treats for the journey
  • Chew toys to keep pups occupied
  • A cosy space in the car or carrier

Travel Tips for Dogs & Pups

  • Use a secure harness with a seatbelt clip, or travel crate
  • Don’t feed just before travelling to avoid queasy tummies 🤢
  • Take regular breaks for toilet time and sniffy walks
  • Keep the car cool, shaded and well-ventilated

Travel Tips for Cats & Kittens

  • Use a sturdy, familiar carrier with a cosy blanket
  • Keep the car calm and quiet – no loud music or sudden stops
  • Cover part of the carrier to reduce stress
  • Avoid letting cats out of the carrier in unfamiliar places (escape risk!)

When You Arrive

Let your pet explore slowly. Set up their food, water and bed first so they have a little "home base" to relax in. Be patient – some pets need a bit of time to settle into a new space.
